Dr Julia Tilling

PhD (Educational Psychology), MEd (Counselling/Special Ed),
BAdVoc Ed (Psychology)

Dr Tilling has attained qualifications in Educational Psychology, Counselling, and Vocational / Adult Education. Her doctoral thesis was awarded in July 2007, having gained valuable experience in the development and implementation of research and, lectured in a range of programs at Universities and the Australian College of Applied Psychology. She has worked for Education Queensland / Catholic Education as a Behaviour Support consultant and also conducted workshops key note speeches on Behaviour Support for specific Educational / Psychological organisations. She has worked extensively with behaviourally challenged students both in alternative programs and in school environments.

Dr Tilling has developed a strong interest in research areas such as resilience, youth mental health, behaviour modification, gender, at-risk youth/delinquency, psychosocial research, intervention programs, identity, problem based learning, and post structuralism. She has a number of published research articles in the areas of at-risk youth, psychological and sociological intervention frameworks, gender, and resilience. She has shared the outcomes of her research at international conferences involving a broad range of practitioners who work with youth and their families. She has been involved widely in the community, for example, organising psychosocial intervention programs and counselling, support groups for adults and students from diverse backgrounds and needs.

Over the years Dr Tilling has been heavily committed to assisting people at-risk and undertaking quality research. She is motivated to seek opportunities that will improve the social welfare and outcomes for people.
